Keeping the Hungry Deer Away

No deer need to be chomping in your yard or garden.  They will of course, unless you tell them that you don't want them there.  Then they will leave your plants alone.

It is that simple. Just tell the deer NO!

NO DEER!

Well it is simple if you know how to speak deer.  We do!

We have created an automated electronic deterrent that repeats this message a special way  and it will tell deer to stay away very effectively for as long as the deterrent is used.  They always understand and obey!

Well we can't actually claim always.  We have been testing these deterrents for over 9 years and the same deer in the same places still obey, so we think they will be permanently useful..  There are hundreds in use in all the 48 mainland states in the USA. Over 98% of these deterrents are being obeyed by the deer and their owners are pleased by this.

These deterrents have a 1 year money-back satisfaction guarantee trial so, you can prove to yourself that they work... without risking any money.  The refund offered, even includes the shipping charge!

These electronic deterrents are called
Phantom Guard-N PROtectors

"This product is absolutely great!  When people ask about my deer problem I tell them I have none. They can't believe I have no fences around ANY of my gardens, trees and bushes.  I tell them I use the Phantom as recommended and that's all that is necessary.  I'm very fortunate to have found your product - it has saved me a lot of time and money not having to fence everything in. This is what Phantom Deterrents look like.

  • They are 4 1/2 inches in diameter. About the size of a small can of gourmet Columbian coffee.
  • They instantly hang from a single nail or screw.  Locations can quickly and easily be shuttled, which can increase coverage zone area and boost effectiveness.
  • Everything is tucked deep inside to protect it from any weather.  Rain, thunderstorms, ice storms, snow storms and summer heat, will not hurt them.
  • The are made to be in use 365 days a year and are designed to last many years. We designed them to likely have 10 or more years of service life.
  • Affordable repairs and discounted replacements are available for any failed, out of warranty, deterrents.
  • The housing is constructed of heavy duty, made in the USA, tough long life stabilized industrial polymers, coated aluminum and stainless steel.  No rust, corrosion or degradation!
  • Professionally designed and field proven electronics are on, made in the USA, top quality fiberglass circuit boards.
  • No tools are required to access, adjust or operate them.
  • They are fully battery portable and require no utility connections.
  • They use quick replaceable, snap connected, USA made battery holders, in case your batteries ever leak and ruin the holder.
  • Radio Shack sells inexpensive replacement battery holders.
  • A single set of 4 inexpensive AA alkaline batteries will keep deer away for several months!
  • They are made from scratch in the USA...  A quality American made electronic product!  And for about the same price as imported Chinese made, short lived, poorly conceived "frequency" gadgets... Which have no extensive USA field testing, no long term effectiveness studies, no 1 year money-back satisfaction guarantee, and no available repair or replacement parts.
  • The system was designed by a professional USA Product Design Engineer of considerable experience for state of the art innovations and product durability.  An outdoorsman Engineer that field tested Phantom deterrents extensively in the critter intense Ozarks and carefully studied results.  Then implimenting refinements to product features and usage techniques, drawing from eight years of extensive feedback from hundreds of actual Phantom deterrent users in each of the states of the USA.
  • American deer prefer to be deterred by American made deterrents that come from American companies that appreciate and respect them.  Which use activity management techniques which do them absolutely no harm... well we like to think they do anyway.

Each deterrent can protect up to 6 acres each!
  • 6 acres is 261,360 square feet.  Over a quarter of a million square feet.  This is an average coverage area that depends on terrain and background noises.  It can be somewhat more or less.
  • Many owners in quiet open areas report even larger areas protected.
  • They are fully sound volume adjustable to match any smaller sized areas as well.
  • Other brands of electronic deterrents brag about just 1,500 square feet or less.  That is less than a 40 foot square.

Why are they so efficient and protect enormous areas compared to other deterrents?
  • They take advantage of the nocturnal nature of deer.  The most vital time of a deer's activity is at night.  The deterrents automatically activate only at night to match the time when deer are most active.  Night also is a cloak of mystery that makes it more effective.
  • The sounds made are very brief and occur several minutes apart.  They are timer based, rather than using unreliable short range motion detectors. Motion detectors have about a 50 foot range limit forward in one direction.
  • The sounds produced by Phantom deterrents are instinctively recognized messages and do not need to be loud.  Even a faint whisper works.  If the deer hears the Phantom deterrent within 600 feet away, it will have deterrent effect.
  • The Phantom technique requires and uses audio sounds which can be heard much further than ultrasonic "frequency" annoyance based sounds which dissipate to useless after much shorter distances. Audio carries much further with much less energy needed to produce the sounds.
  • Phantom deterrents use deer specific instinctive messages; not pointless startle based "frequency" noises or flashing lights, which have no meaning to the deer.

The sounds are instinctively recognized as being a cougar.
  • Every deer instinctively recognizes and reacts to certain special sounds associated with a cougar.  They know these at birth and never need to meet a cougar or be shown what they are.  The cougar has been the deer's most deadly predator from ancient times and they have strong survival instincts at birth to protect themselves. We say NO to the deer by making them think a cougar is lurking and is about to attack them and eat them.
  • Since the message is instinctive, they cannot question the message, only react as commanded by the survival instinct.  They leave... often in a big hurry.   They don't hurry back however.
  • After a couple of scares in the same vacinity, deer associate the cougar danger with the area where they hear the sounds and move away from it.  Any day activity ceases as well since they have moved somewhere else.

Will these sounds attract cougars?

No
  • The two sounds utilized were carefully researched, chosen and tested. They are the optimum sounds for many reasons. One of which is that they have no attraction potential. For example; a dog, coyote or wolf sound, would be a poor choice because sounds or scents from any would attract dogs, coyote and wolves due to their pack instincts. Cougar are loners and have no pack type instincts.
  • In 9 years, there have been no reports of Phantom deterrents attracting cougars or any other animals.
  • One sound is a synthetic hiss and the other is an actual recording of an angry tom cougar making a territorial defense cry.
  • The cougar sound even deterrs other cougar since it means a serious conflict fight would occur if pursued.

Will they scare pets and livestock?
What about the song birds and yard squirrels and bunnies?

No
  • These sounds are played only at night so day oriented animals such as song birds, squirrels and bunnies, are not effected.
  • All birds ignore the hiss sound entirely.  They seem to lack any instinctive recognition. We have more than once found new bird nests built right next to an operating deterrent.
  • All species of cats ignore the synthetic hiss... we think maybe because they are hiss experts and know it is fake.
  • Ducks, Geese, Chickens, Turkey, Goats, Horses, Sheep, Cows, Dogs, Cats, Rabbits and other pets and livestock are not bothered or at worst slightly nervous but fully adjust in a few days at most.
  • Any animal that trusts you can easily be desensitized by holding an operating deterrent and showing the animal that the sound is made by you.
  • In 9 years there has not been even one deterrent returned due to bothering pets or livestock.

Will they bother the neighbors?

Generally No
  • In suburban areas you need to use some consideration of your neighbors.  These sound only at night, so that helps a great deal.
  • The synthsized hiss sound is a lot like common sounds such as air conditioners, car traffic and other white noise sounds.  Some users have said it sounds like radio static. It isn't very noticeable and the volume isn't anything startling loud.
  • The recorded cougar sound is very realistic and was intended for rural uses, but is successfully in use in the suburbs quite a bit.  You just need to be sensible and considerate about using it.
  • Less than 1 per 200 owners finds them annoying and returns them.  We understand that some rare situations just won't be compatible.  That is why we have a full 1 year money-back satisfaction trial guarantee. Lots of time to experiment and decide. You can ask any questions you might have. It costs you nothing if you decide they are not a suitable solution to your deer problem. We even refund the shipping charges.

Are they expensive?

No
  • They cost about the same as other kinds of deterrents that claim they can protect about a 40 foot square, which is .035 acres... or about a 1/3 fraction of 1/10 of an acre.  Each Phantom deterrent can protect up to an average of 6 acres each.  It would take over 168 deterrents rated at 1,500 square foot, to equal the average protection area of just one Phantom deterrent.
  • The retail list price of a Phantom deterrent is between, under $100, and $145.  They are often discounted below those prices. At $145, the cost of protection is $24 per acre and the life span is expected to be 10 years. That's just two dollars and forty cents, $2.40,  per acre, per year!  It would take 28 deterrents of other brand/type rated at 1,500 square foot to protect just 1 acre. At $80 each, that would be $2,240 per acre... or $13,440 for the 6 acre coverage of one $145 Phantom deterrent.  You would likely get a volume discount however, for a purchase of 168 deterrents... so $13,440 may be a bit unrealistically high. You'll need that savings to help pay for the 168 sets of batteries.
  • The average battery expense for a Phantom to protect 6 acres is about 5 pennies per month per acre.  A mere nickel's worth of energy operating cost to keep deer out of an entire acre for an entire month.  We think that is just plain amazing !   And it actually works indefinitely effective !  At that rate we couldn't install the most inexpensive solar-electric maintainence cheaply enough to make it worth the cost averaged over 5 years... as compared to using ordinary Rayovac AA alkaline batteries purchased from Walmart.   Other efficient electronic gadgets probably cost about that much as well, for EACH  deterrent operating, even if only 1,500 square foot is protected. Some poorly designed electronic repellent gadgets are real energy hogs, so be sure to check on that. A 6 acre Phantom will operate an average of 6 months on 4 AA alkaline batteries.  Even longer when properly adjusted for smaller areas.
  • Even if you only need to protect a 1,600 square foot 40 foot square, Phantoms still work better and last longer.
  • Phantoms are the lowest cost per acre...  Largest area coverage per deterrent...  lowest operating energy cost... and most effective for results.

Will Phantom Deterrents help with other pests?

Yes !
  • The survival instincts about cougar are also in many notoriously damaging night active pests... coyote, skunk, black bear ond others. Phantom deterrents offer the same, researched and proven, protective effect against them, as they provide for deer.
  • See the list with detailed links about each>>  Other Pests

Can I use a Phantom deterrent in combination with other deterrents and repellents?

Yes !

Generally that is not needed and would be an unecessary expense.  In most cases it should be no problem as long as other methods do not create a conflict.
  • Light and noise based startle gadgets, may conflict. Especially if functioning at night near a Phantom.  Anything using sound should be considered carefully as a possible conflict.
  • Smell/taste repellents are not usually a conflict.  We even recommend a simple easy blood odor trick using bits of stew meat.  It is described in the Phantom deterrent owner's manual.  Although not usually needed, it can be used to boost Phantom effectiveness by  smelling like a predator kill has occurred.  You can even start doing this for some short term preliminary effect while waiting for delivery of an ordered deterrent.
  • A common successful combination is to use a light deer fence and a Phantom deterrent for very critical areas such as high value grape vineyards. The fence keeps away even new daytime stray deer and the Phantom deterrent keeps away, bear, raccoon, coyote, oppossum, etc., in addition to the primary deer challenges.  Many Phantom owners remove fencing after seeing the results by our deterrents.
